The student voice is encouraged at St. Brigid’s and children are given the opportunity to do so as part of the Student Council.
Students have an important role in the direction and vision of a school. Girls are elected to the council on their merits and commitment to make their school a better place to learn and grow. Each year, girls nominate themselves to be elected to the council. An election is then held in each of the senior classes and two representatives from each class are awarded a seat on the Student Council for the duration of that academic year. The elected pupils are required to be active participants in the Student Council, to attend meetings regularly, participate in activities and be a role model for other students.
Student Council members pledge to attend their meetings and communicate with their classmates. They often discuss and promote issues which are important to them and their peers. The school is always proud and impressed with the hard work and commitment of its Student Council members. The school is a better place due to their commitment.
